INSTALLATION TESTING & TROUBLESHOOTING – If you’re having trouble with your Rivet installation, here are some deeper things to test… (You might want to check our Installation Checklist first, to run down several the simpler things that can cause trouble.)


1. With an OHM meter, measure between the pickup’s connection pins for these results:

Coil OHM readings…

a) START to FINISH pins should read 8.5K to 7K OHMS. If the reading is ∅K or OL (“open loop”), then the main coil has a severe problem.

b) TAP to FINISH pins should read a little less than above – maybe 7.2K to 6.3K. If the reading is ∅K or OL (“open loop”), then the main coil has a severe problem.

c) AUX START to AUX FINISH pins should read about 6K to 4.4K OHMS. If the reading is ∅K or OL (“open loop”), then the main coil has a severe problem.

Ground-leak testing…

d) START to GROUND pins should read OL (“open loop”). Be sure your fingers are not touching the probes, as that may affect your reading. If the reading is ∅K, or if the OHM reading is noticeably less that what you read in a) above, then the START pin is leaking to GROUND.

e) TAP to GROUND pins should read OL (“open loop”). Be sure your fingers are not touching the probes, as that may affect your reading. If the reading is ∅K, or if the OHM reading is noticeably less that what you read in b) above, then the TAP pin is leaking to GROUND.

f) FINISH to GROUND pins should read OL (“open loop”). Be sure your fingers are not touching the probes, as that may affect your reading. If the reading is ∅K, then the FINISH pin is leaking to GROUND.

g) AUX START to GROUND pins should read OL (“open loop”). Be sure your fingers are not touching the probes, as that may affect your reading. If the reading is ∅K, or if the OHM reading is noticeably less that what you read in c) above, then the AUX START pin is leaking to GROUND.

h) AUX FINISH to GROUND pins should read OL (“open loop”). Be sure your fingers are not touching the probes, as that may affect your reading. If the reading is ∅K, then the AUX FINISH pin is leaking to GROUND.
